Hi, I’m Beth

I’ve been making art for as long as I can remember, thank you for being here.

Beth Bailey, a lifelong South Shore resident and alumna of MassArt and Local Pottery, draws inspiration from playful, childlike drawings to evoke nostalgia in viewers. Her designs capture memories of doodles from our past, those our children create now, or the ones we sketch in the margins.

With a nod to punk rock and American tattoo aesthetics, Beth's collection embodies celestial, sexy, innocent, and dark themes, reflecting her artistic and cultural influences.

My deal:

I’m a visual thinker

(what kind of thinker are you?)

and have leaned on that since childhood.

After my parents finished washing the crayon murals off the walls of our home, they started dropping me off at a friend’s studio (shout out Pam Golden) and enrolling me in art classes.

This eventually led to my pursuit of two BFAs from MassArt: one in Art Education with Studio Specialization and one in Painting.

I’ve been teaching art in my community for over a decade.

My studio focus shifted to clay in 2015. I learned A LOT at Local Pottery.

(Have you been yet? Either way, go. The gallery is like nothing else.)

Working with clay is like going back to my roots, covered in mud like the child I was in my family’s garden.

I am thrilled to add my training in painting and drawing into the glazing process and genuinely feel like I’m playing while in the studio,

what a dream!

If you’re looking for functional art or to open up some Creative Pathways in your mind,

I hope you’ll check out my work and class offerings.
